Harvest Hope Food Bank’s “Mac Madness” tournament, which aligns with the highly anticipated NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, is entering it’s third year of competition. The end goal? To collect as many boxes and cups of macaroni and cheese as possible to help feed families in the Midlands from now through April 3.

“Mac Madness is a way for the local community to come together during a time of competition and rivalry and get involved with our mission of building a hunger-free tomorrow,” says Erinn Rowe, Harvest Hope CEO. “While many people are working to fill out their brackets for the March Madness tournament, it’s also a great opportunity to give back to others.”

Macaroni and cheese is one of the foodbank’s most requested and distributed items. The simple meal is easy to make, has a long self-life, tastes delicious, and is a staple for both young and old.

Community members are encouraged to donate either boxes of macaroni and cheese which are used in the Emergency Food Pantry and Mobile Food Pantry boxes, or microwaveable cups of macaroni and cheese which is used in the BackPack Program.

Together, we're building a hunger-free tomorrow.

In Support of Harvest Hope Food Bank
Harvest Hope is South Carolina’s largest food bank, providing over 20 million meals on average to neighbors in need across the Midlands, Pee Dee and Upstate. Harvest Hope is on a mission to eliminate hunger and food insecurity in South Carolina. We rescue nutritious food from stores throughout the state and distribute it to food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens.

We operate programs that provide food for our most vulnerable citizens – children, seniors, and rural residents who don’t have access to grocery stores. We also run our own emergency food pantries in Greenville and Columbia where anyone in need can get a week’s supply of groceries for free.

Harvest Hope began in 1981 as the result of a shared vision of business leaders and the faith community, who set out to provide for the hungry in Columbia. Since then, Harvest Hope has increased its mission to feed the hungry across 20 counties in South Carolina.
