Join Girl Scout Cadette Saloan as she works toward earning her Girl Scout Silver Award—the highest award a Cadette can achieve—by leading a community food drive benefiting Harvest Hope Food Bank.
Through this project, Saloan hopes to raise awareness about food insecurity while collecting food to help children, families, seniors, and veterans throughout South Carolina who struggle to put meals on the table.
Every donation, whether it's a canned food item or a monetary gift through this virtual food drive, helps Harvest Hope provide food, hope, and dignity to neighbors facing hunger.
Why This Project Matters
Food insecurity impacts thousands of South Carolinians every day. Many children leave school each afternoon uncertain if they'll have dinner waiting for them at home. Together, we can help change that.
As Saloan shares:
"I chose food insecurity because there are kids who go home after school and don't have a hot meal. I would like to help in any way I can to help end food insecurity for everyone."

In Support of Harvest Hope Food Bank
Harvest Hope is South Carolina’s largest food bank, providing over 25 million meals on average to neighbors in need across the Midlands, Pee Dee and Upstate. Harvest Hope is on a mission to eliminate hunger and food insecurity in South Carolina. We rescue nutritious food from stores throughout the state and distribute it to food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens.
We operate programs that provide food for our most vulnerable citizens – children, seniors, and rural residents who don’t have access to grocery stores. We also run our own emergency food pantries in Greenville and Columbia where anyone in need can get a week’s supply of groceries for free.
Harvest Hope began in 1981 as the result of a shared vision of business leaders and the faith community, who set out to provide for the hungry in Columbia. Since then, Harvest Hope has increased its mission to feed the hungry across 20 counties in South Carolina.
